Mass and magnitude of open source software that allows for increasing levels of automation integration combined with audience and data intelligence. So what is the BEST of Mautic?

Every marketer is aware of the value of marketing automation platforms. They not only make marketing campaigns a lot easier to track and manage, they also help with developing targeted campaigns that move businesses forward. They’re pretty indispensable these days.

However, not all automated platforms are the same. You have your big hitters like Salesforce. Then you have your smaller platforms, that may have limited features, but are perhaps a little more tailored to the smaller business.

And then you have Mautic.

An example of Mautic’s dashboard

Mautic is different. First of all, it is an open source platform. This means it is potentially a platform that can be changed and molded to a user’s liking. And that’s fundamentally a good thing. No two companies are the same, and the marketing for no two companies will be the same. There will be different requirements. To have this kind of flexibility is good news.

However, dig deeper, and you’ll soon find that it is a very generous piece of software too. While it may not have the complex, sophisticated suite of tools that Salesforce has, there is plenty here to get excited about.

The Key Selling Point?

If you find yourself considering Mautic, it wouldn’t be too long before you discovered the one feature that makes it both very attractive and also a little strange (in a good way). Mautic has an incredibly versatile visual interface that allows you to put together whole marketing campaigns in ‘drag and drop’ style. It’s quite incredible to use, and when you’re fully in sync with it, it can seem easier than campaign building on other platforms. It’s very simple and clean, and while we know that this kind of UI may not be to everyone’s taste, it certainly makes building a campaign seem a little more intuitive.

All the steps of a campaign, from segmenting a list to sending leads to a CRM, can be set up using the visual interface. It’s kind of like a mind map, with nodes and cells. It really works, and it arguably enhances the planning stages of marketing.

You can build emails for a campaign using that same drag and drop interface. Weirdly enough, you feel like you have more control over the email composition process when you are simply dragging icons around a screen. If anything, it gives you a quicker, more immediate sense of what prospects see.

That same process occurs when building landing pages through Mautic. And we have to give the developers a lot of respect for this. It makes automation more intuitive and easy, and surely must save time for users in the long run.

Then The Integration…

Marketing automation platforms live and die on their integration, and we’re happy to say that Mautic really delivers. We’re talking about so many integrations with outside software that it’s probably more productive to list out the software that it doesn’t integrate with.

This comprehensive level of integration is another key factor. It happens pretty smoothly, and marketers know that fast and easy is good. This platform covers many aspects of the sales and marketing process with it’s solid menu of integrations.

And So?

It’s open source (which is often shorthand for ‘work in progress’) so there are some bugs around. And every now and then you come across a feature or two that simply doesn’t work fast enough. But it is free, and the simple and clean interface hides a pretty powerful automation engine.

It’s well worth a look. But not just because it’s free. Get to grips with it. If you’re a small business you should find that it is actually very close to just what your marketing team needs.
